About me

I was born in the heart of Transylvania, in Reghin in 1977, in a family of luthiers, growing up among the violins built by my father, Mare Zaharie.

I finished the Professional Sculpture School in 1994 in Târgu Mureș and high school in Reghin. Since my school years, guided by some teachers such as Eng. Coman Ana Maria, I got the taste of competitions, and at the national stage of the craft competition - sculpture 1993 I won the 1st place.

At the age of 17, I was already employed in the field of instruments at Hora S.A. Reghin, and after the program I continued to perfect myself in my father's private workshop.

After the early death of my father, I was mentored by my uncle and continued to develop this passion acquired in collapsing.

I then constantly participated in two of the most appreciated international lutherie competitions: Mittenwald - Germany 2001, 2005, 2010, 2014, 2018 and the one in Cremina - Italy in 2006, 2012, 2015 and 2018, with one exception always reaching the stages competition finals.

I got 2nd place - the violin section of the Reghin International Violin Competition 2012 and 1st place in the viola section of the same competition in 2014.

Both the very good quality of the wood from the Carpathian Mountains, and the privilege of knowing these great Romanian luthiers, Precub Florea, Ciurba Nicolae, Luca Ioan, Nagy Pavel, Mare Zaharie and Mare Vasile, along with the great adaptability of Romanian luthiers, made possible the emergence of a new generation of young luthiers.

Since I was a child I was fascinated with woodworking, I cut openwork veneer and made inlays, pyroetched designs on wood and became addicted to making things by hand, and in time I came to luthiery - which is probably one of the most beautiful ways to ennoble the wood, to give life, sensitivity and feelings to these centuries-old trees.
